Cranley Summary
The Millennium Sharjah is a hotel geared towards the business and convention market and is located on the Sharjah Corniche which gives it impressive views of the Lagoon whilst at the same time being near the centre of the city and the main Sharjah shopping mall. The hotel was opened at the end of 2002 and has 259 rooms on 16 floors. The rooms come in a number of types and in addition there is the Millennium Club Lounge for Suite and Executive Room guests. The hotel has four different dining options with formal Thai and Iranian Restaurants, a casual dining international restaurant and a café located on the ground floor. There is no bar as Sharjah does not allow alcohol. For leisure the hotel has a small gym, squash court, sauna and steam rooms (separate for ladies and gentlemen) and three swimming pools. For conferences and banquets there is one Grand Ballroom and three boardrooms that can be configured in different ways and they have the benefit of being located on the first floor which is accessed by the feature stairway in the lobby or a lift.

Location Description
The hotel is located on the Sharjah Corniche which gives it impressive views of the lagoon whilst at the same time being located in the city centre. The hotel has easy access to the City Centre shopping malls including the largest in Sharjah as well as the Old Souks. For guests wanting to get to Dubai for golf and shopping or evening activities it is about 20km away but travel time can vary considerably depending on the time of day so guests are advised to take advice from the hotels concierge. In addition the hotel runs a complimentary shuttle bus to Dubai four times a day.

Layout Description
The hotel is located on the banks of the Khaled Lagoon near to the city centre with all of the facilities except the beach club within the hotel. The hotel is a tall hotel with seventeen floors. The rooms are located on the third to seventeenth floors with the club rooms and suites located on the top three floors and the Millennium Club Lounge on the seventeenth. The heath club and swimming pools are located on a roof terrace on the second floor with pools on either side of the building which means there is always one pool in the shade. Two of the restaurants and boutiques are located on the ground floor with the lobby and guest services and, lastly the other two restaurants and conference facilities are on the first floor. The beach club is a five minute taxi ride away.

The hotel lobby is set in a stylish surrounding with high ceilings, marble flooring and a grand staircase in the centre which leads up to the banqueting and conferencing facilities and restaurants on the first floor. The front desk is located on the left side which consists of a number of individual desks. The concierge is located on the opposite side of the lobby and at the very front of the lobby on either side are two of the restaurants which are open plan to the lobby. At the back of the lobby are the boutiques and business centre.

The hotel has a range of boutiques offering Arabic gifts and fashions as well as a stationery. In addition the City Centre Mall and the Sahara Centre as well as the Souk Al Arsah which is one of the oldest Souks in the UAE are located five to ten minutes away in a taxi.

Club or Executive Facilities
There is a Club Lounge on the 17th floor for Executive and Suite guests. The lounge has ample armchairs and coffee tables for guests to relax at and read or watch the large screen television. The room is decorated in a sophisticated style and has stunning views of the lagoon from floor to ceiling windows down the whole of one side of the lounge. The Millennium Sharjah has a range of room types from the Deluxe Room to the Royal Suite. The rooms come with Khalid Lagoon views or City views with the lagoon views being the most impressive. There are executive rooms called the Millennium Club Rooms which with the suites have additional amenities like fax machines and a trouser press and are located on the top three floors they also benefit from access to the lounge on the 17th floor. All rooms except the Royal Suite are decorated in a contemporary style with light or dark wood furniture.

The Deluxe Studio is a one room suite with views over the city. The room has a small entrance hallway with the en-suite bathroom on one side that has a combined bath and shower and is decorated in a pastel colour with whir sanitary wear. The living room/ bedroom is one room and at one end is the bedroom and the lounge area is at the other end with a two seater sofa, armchair, coffee table and desk with high speed internet connection. The room is decorated in the same contemporary style as the other room types.

The Deluxe Suite is a two room suite with a lounge and a separate en-suite bedroom. You enter the lounge which is a rectangular shaped room and has two sofas and a coffee table with a satellite television. There is a doorway to the bedroom which contains the bed a two seat sofa and a desk with high speed internet connection. The bathroom is the same as the Deluxe Studio Suite. The Millennium Club Suite is a substantial size at 114 sqm. It has a separate dining room, lounge, kitchenette, guest toilet and en-suite master bedroom that has a separate shower as well as a bath. The suite has an entrance hallway off which the other rooms lead. The bedroom also has a lounge area with two armchairs and a coffee table and in addition has a desk with fax and internet connection. The dining room has a circular table and seating for six persons and overlooks the lagoon whilst the lounge also overlooks the lagoon and has two, three seater sofas' and a coffee table as well as a satellite television.

The Royal Suite is the premium accommodation and as well as the extra space benefits from having two en-suite bedrooms with the second bedrooms having twin beds. The suite doorway leads into a lounge/dining room with ample space and features a dining
table with eight chairs and a three seat sofa as well as additional armchairs. The lounge has impressive views overlooking the lagoon. At either end of the suite are the bedrooms which are identical in size have the same amenities with one having twin single beds. The Royal Suite is decorated in a richer and more elaborate style than the other room types in the hotel.

The hotel has three principle restaurants and a coffee shop serving snacks and light meals and in addition guests at the pool can order room service. The breakfast location is Citrus which serves a buffet at meal times as well as having an al a carte menu. The two more formal restaurants are located on the first floor and serve Thai and Iranian cuisine. For lighter options guests can have a snack, pastries or cakes. Fresh juices and 'mocktails' at the Al Dallah coffee shop.

All restaurants serve innovative Ostrich meat dishes, with meat coming straight from an organic farm in Sharjah.

Citrus is the main international restaurant in the hotel and is located at the front of the lobby. It is split onto two levels with the non-smoking area being located on the higher level. The restaurant serves a buffet at all meal times and has special themed evenings with Mexican, Indian, Far Eastern and Mediterranean nights. There is also a full al a carte menu available.

Cranley Comment
Mojo is a Thai restaurant located on the first floor of the hotel. It has panoramic windows overlooking the Lagoon and Corniche Road which gives an impressive vista at both day and night. The restaurant serves a range of typical Thai dishes and for larger functions can organise a buffet with a dedicated buffet area in the restaurant. The décor of the restaurant is contemporary and stylish with black marble flooring.
