Cranley Comment
The hotel entrance is just off the main road and consists of double glass doors which take guests into a small pink and cream marble tiled lobby. Immediately on the left is an entrance to the Al Nafoora Restaurant and Rumours Café. There are then two sets of steps up to the main lobby area, where the Front Desk is situated. There is also a ramp for the bell boys to wheel luggage, which is too steep for mobility impaired guests to negotiate safely. The lobby area in front of the Reception desk is very bright with its pink and cream patterned tiles and it has several easy chairs set around a number of small tables. To the left of the reception desk are the three guest lifts.
Shops & Amenities
Cranley Comment
There are no shops in the hotel, but there is a hypermarket within two minutes walk and the start of the city centre is just a little further away. The hotel is situated on Sheikh Hamad Bin Abdullah Street, which is the main road through the city. Maktoum Road, which joins Sheikh Hamad Bin Abdullah Street just outside the hotel, leads to the city centre shopping area. Both that and Safeer Market are about 2 minutes by road. Central market, which is located close to the public beach is about 5 minutes away by car.

The Deluxe Studios are located on all guest floors throughout the hotel. Inside the room, the compact shower room is just inside the door. It is tiled on the walls and floor in grey and white. Beyond that is the fully equipped kitchen area that is separated from the bedroom area by a row of wardrobes. It creates the effect of separate rooms, which is unusual in a studio. The room is marble tiled in cream throughout, with all of the décor and furnishings in various shades of brown, cream and white. The king size bed stands on a cream rug with gold and brown edging. There is a small dining table and two chairs.

The Executive Suites are located on all guest floors throughout the hotel, with four suites occupying the corner positions on each floor. Inside the room, there is a hallway leading to the fully equipped modern kitchen, that differs from the deluxe studios by having a large fridge freezer; a full sized oven and 5 ring hob; a washing machine and considerably more working space. Further along the corridor is the compact, self contained maid's room and opposite that is the lounge area that has a large sofa, two easy chairs, TV, dining table and chairs. At the end of the corridor is the master bedroom, which has a king size bed and is ensuite. The room décor is the same as for the deluxe studio, but both the ensuite and the second bathroom have cream coloured floor tiles, with a mixture of cream and sand coloured tiles on the walls. The 2nd bedroom, which has twin beds, is opposite the master bedroom, with the bathroom adjoining it.

The Royal Suites are located on all guest floors throughout the hotel, with three suites on each floor. Inside the suite, there is a hallway with two easy chairs and immediately opposite the entrance is the large lounge diner. This room follows the style of the rest of the hotel, with similar furnishings and décor, including a cream marble tiled floor. There is a stylish dark wood dining table and six chairs in one area of the room, whilst the large sofa and easy chairs face the flat screen TV on the other side of the room. The hallway leads next to the maid's room, with the fully equipped modern kitchen next door. Then comes the second bathroom, which has the same decor as the bathrooms in the other suites. Further along the corridor is the master bedroom, which has a king size bed and is ensuite. The room décor and furnishings are largely the same as for the executive suite, but with more use of vibrant reds for the bed throws. Once again, the ensuite is decorated in the same way as the other bathrooms, with cream floor tiles and a mix of cream and sand coloured tiles on the walls. The 2nd bedroom, which has twin beds, is next to the master bedroom.

The Masafi meeting room is located on the mezzanine floor, close to the hotel's executive offices. It is a medium sized room, suitable for small functions. The compact gym, which is known as 'Gym and Tonic' is on the 10th floor and has a small range of new equipment. It has a wooden floor and there are windows on one side of the room, but most of the equipment faces towards the one large TV in the room. There are separate ladies and men's saunas a short distance along the corridor. Towels are available in the room but there is no water cooler. It is very effectively air conditioned.

Special Needs
Communal Areas
There are steps immediately inside the hotel entrance up to the reception desk at lobby level and although there is a ramp, it is quite steep and is intended for the baggage trolleys. Mobility impaired guests would therefore find difficulty in reaching the lobby level, from which all other parts of the hotel are accessible. The Al Nafoora restaurant and Rumours Café is at entrance level. There are no disabled toilet facilities in the hotel.
Rooms & Bathrooms
None of the guest bedrooms have been adapted for use by special needs guests.
Restaurants & Catering
Al Nafoora restaurant is at entrance level.
Recreation Facilities
The gym and meeting room can be reached via the lifts from the lobby.
Visual & Hearing Aids
There are no special arrangements for visually or hearing impaired guests.
Cranley Comment
The hotel is not really suitable for mobility impaired guests because of the difficulty they would have in reaching the lobby level. Once there, all parts of the hotel are accessible via the lifts, but there are no specially adapted bedrooms. The size of all the rooms means that they do have sufficient space for wheelchairs, but none of the bathrooms do. The shower rooms in the Executive Studios would be totally inaccessible to mobility impaired guests.
Environment
Measures
Energy Saving
Minimise Cleaning Materials
Water Saving
Cranley Comment
The hotel politely requests guests to minimise water usage, through its 'Go Green' labels in the bathrooms asking guests to consider reusing towels and not having bed linen changed every day.
