Cranley Comment
The hotel is principally a business oriented hotel but all of the rooms are large enough to accommodate one or more children with their parents. There are children's menus in all restaurants, as well as child prices for buffets and the 12 hour Friday Brunch is very popular with families, especially as Market Square is turned into a supervised children's play area. The rooftop pool is suitable for children and the hotel also runs a shuttle bus to a nearby beach.

Golf
Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club
Description
Opened in 1993 and extensively re-modelled in 2005, the course is set next to Dubai Creek, close to the city centre and Dubai International Airport. The championship course was re-designed by Thomas Bjorn and is set in undulating fairways lined with palms, attractive water hazards and shrubbery that give it a tropical and secluded feel despite being close to the city centre. The complex also features a nine hole floodlit par-three course. The course was voted in November 2005 as one of the top 100 world courses to play and hosted the Dubai Desert Classic in 1999 and 2000.
Location 4 km
Holes Two Courses: 18 Hole and 9 Hole
Length/Par 18 Hole Course: 6,839 Yards Par 71 sss 72
Facilities The centrepiece clubhouse is designed in the shape of a Dhow, making this one of Dubai’s landmark buildings. There is a golf academy with high tech studio, double ended driving range, six PGA qualified professionals and a comprehensive pro shop.
  Emirates Golf Club
Description
This was the first grass course in the Gulf region when it opened in 1988. The club features two championship courses; the Majlis and the Wadi. The Majlis was the original course and was designed by Florida based designer Karl Litten. The Wadi opened in 1996 and was re-designed in 2007 by Nick Faldo. Despite a number of new courses, it still ranks as one of the best in Dubai. It has hosted the Dubai Desert Classic fifteen times for the last six years in succession.
Location 36km
Holes Majlis 18, Wadi 18
Length/Par Majlis: 7,185 Yards par 72 sss 74 , Wadi: 7,263 Yards par 72 sss 74
Facilities Teaching academy, two driving ranges (one of which is floodlit), pitching and chipping areas, fairway and greenside practice bunkers. Several bars and restaurants.
Special Needs
Communal Areas
The whole of the ground floor is wheelchair accessible and most other areas of the hotel can be accessed via the lifts. There are however, steps up to some of the communal areas, which make them more difficult for mobility impaired guests.
Rooms & Bathrooms
There are four Deluxe Rooms and an Executive Room that have been adapted for special needs guests.
Restaurants & Catering
All of the restaurants and bars are accessible to mobility impaired guests, except Vienna Café which has steps up to it and the Piano Lounge which has steps both up and down. Some of the other restaurants have different floor levels within them, but the main body of each restaurant is readily accessible.
Recreation Facilities
Griffins Health Club can be reached via the lifts, but the Planet Cardio gym within the health club is on two levels and some of the equipment would not be readily accessible to a mobility impaired guest. Access to the rooftop swimming pool is by lift and it can be reached from the ground floor or through the health club. There is however, a step from the health club, so the easier access is from the ground floor.
Visual & Hearing Aids
To assist visually impaired guests, the hotel has numbers in braille on the bedroom doors and in the lifts. Special smoke detectors are available for hearing impaired guests on request.
Staff Assistance
All Marriott staff are trained to assist all guests
Cranley Comment
As an older hotel, the JW Marriott was designed without the needs of special needs guests specifically in mind, but it does offer mobility impaired guests the run of most of the hotel. There are some areas that are more difficult to access, but most of this large property is readily accessible to all guests. There are five bedrooms that have been adapted for special needs guests.
Environment
Measures

Cranley Comment
The JW Marriott has a number of measures in place for the environment, which includes recycling, energy saving and water saving. The hotel participates in the Marriott worldwide program called ECHO (Environmentally Conscious Hotel Organization) which encourages hotels to have processes in place to help the environment.
