Cranley Comment
The hotel's main meeting and conference facilities are located on the first floor and they have a separate large entrance, as well as being accessible from within the hotel. The Ballroom is available either as one large venue, or using one or two of the separate smaller ballrooms. For hotel guests, there is good internet connectivity in the rooms but wireless only works in the hotel lobby area and in the meeting rooms. The business centre has two PC terminals but is open plan to the lobby, so lacks an element of privacy.

Golf
  Emirates Golf Club
Description
This was the first grass course in the Gulf region when it opened in 1988. The club features two championship courses; the Majlis and the Wadi. The Majlis was the original course and was designed by Florida based designer Karl Litten. The Wadi opened in 1996 and was re-designed in 2007 by Nick Faldo. Despite a number of new courses, it still ranks as one of the best in Dubai. It has hosted the Dubai Desert Classic fifteen times for the last six years in succession.

  Montgomerie Dubai
Description
Covering more than 265 acres of landscaped turf, gardens and lakes, this spectacular golf course provides the player with undulating "links land" style fairways which challenge and intrigue all levels of player. Placement of the drive to the generous fairways remains the cornerstone of any good round. The flat landing area of each fairway can be challenging to find, but a rewarding adventure. With 14 lakes and 81 bunkers, The Montgomerie Dubai, the first and only example of the association between golfing great Colin Montgomerie and Desmond Muirhead, adds a distinctive variety to the golfing landscape of the region.

One of the signature holes is the par 5 fourth, dubbed the Snake hole for its saddleback fairway which doglegs towards the green, with 2 bunkers behind forming the eyes of the snake. Further on, the par 5 ninth, with water down the left, is a tough finish to the opening half. The par 3 thirteenth, a hole designed in the shape of the UAE, boasts a 360 degree teeing area around an island fairway and green, allowing for a completely different golf hole to be played every time. However, it is the par 5 eighteenth that offers a more classic test. At 656 yards it is a monster and, with water protecting the front of the green, it defies even the best player to hit the green in two.

A complimentary shuttle bus is provided, departing at 10:00 and returning at 17:00.

All guest bedrooms can be reached using the lifts. There is a disabled toilet in the lobby area near to the Pine Grill.
Rooms & Bathrooms
Three Standard Rooms in the hotel have been adapted for mobility impaired guests. All adapted bedrooms have low level spyholes, wide doors and extra access room, with lower level fixtures and fittings, including the beds, wardrobe fittings and washbasin. The bathrooms have grab rails around the toilet and a run-in shower.
Restaurants & Catering
All of the catering outlets are accessible to mobility impaired guests, except The Bar above Cucina, which can only be reached via a staircase.
Recreation Facilities
The hotel gym is at ground floor level and the pool and terrace is accessible via a ramp. The first floor meeting and conference facilities can be reached by lift.
Visual & Hearing Aids
The bedrooms all have their numbers in braille and there are visual and audible alarms fitted in the three adapted bedrooms and bathrooms to assist guests who may be visually or hearing impaired.
Staff Assistance
All Marriott staff are trained to assist all guests, whatever their requirements.
Cranley Comment
As a new hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott has been designed with special needs taken into consideration. It has three adapted rooms, as well as ramp alternatives wherever there are staircases. For example, there are steps leading into the Pine Grill restaurant, but a separate ramp has been built as part of the hotel design. Only The Bar above Cucina is inaccessible to mobility impaired guests. The three adapted bedrooms have low level spyholes on the doors, twin beds and wider open spaces in the bedroom to accommodate a wheelchair. The bathrooms are equipped with low level facilities and have handrails next to the toilet. They are also equipped with showers that will accommodate a wheelchair. For the partially sighted, all bedrooms in the hotel have numbering in braille.
Environment
Measures
Recycling
Energy Saving
Minimise Cleaning Materials
Water Saving
Cranley Comment
The hotel attempts to minimise detergent use and save water, by giving guests the option of having towels and sheets changed on request, rather than daily. In addition, the hotel recycles water for the gardens. Marriott's Environmentally Conscious Hospitality Operations program (ECHO) focuses on water and energy conservation, clean air initiatives, wildlife preservation, "reduce-reuse-recycle" waste management, and clean-up campaigns.
