The Millennium Hotel is a city centre hotel located on Khalifa Street in the heart of the business district of Abu Dhabi. It is a tower design arranged over twenty floors with views over the Corniche and Ocean. The hotel has 6 different types of accommodation, Deluxe, Superior and Club Rooms and a variety of suites. Guests staying in the Club Rooms also have exclusive access to the Millennium Club Lounge which brings a number of additional benefits. For dining and entertainment guests have the choice of three restaurants Marakesh which is the only 5 star Moroccan Restaurant in Abu Dhabi, Sevilos an Italian trattoria and the Cristal Bar which was the first Cigar and Champagne Bar in Abu Dhabi. For recreation there is a fully equipped gym with separate saunas for men and women and an outdoor temperature controlled swimming pool with views of the Capital Garden and City. The Millennium Hotel is located in the centre of Abu Dhabi's business district. Standing on Khalifa Street it has spectacular views of the Capital Garden, City and the Corniche and Ocean. Its location gives easy access to the ADNEC - Abu Dhabi International Exhibitions Centre which is 16 Kilometres away. Abu Dhabi's shopping malls and the Corniche are only a short taxi ride or walk away. For leisure there are a number of beaches nearby, horse racing and European PGA standard golf courses are a twenty minute drive away in light traffic.

Layout Description

The Millennium Hotel is a city centre hotel arranged over a twenty storey tower. On the ground floor is an impressive lobby and reception with a relaxed Lobby Lounge and seating area. To the left of the lobby is Citrus the hotels main international restaurant and to the rear of the lobby are the guest lifts and Business Centre. Marakesh Moroccan Restaurant and Cristal, the cigar and champagne bar are located on the mezzanine level. Level 1 is a dedicated conference floor and Sevilo's Italian restaurant and the hotels swimming pool and gym are situated on Level 2. Guest rooms are found on the remaining 16 floors with the Deluxe and Superior Rooms on the ninth to twelfth floors and the Club Rooms located on the thirteenth to sixteenth floors and given their height offer the best views. The Millennium Club Lounges are located on the fourteenth and fifteenth floors. The hotel also has a complimentary secure underground car park.

The lobby is a large stylish area with marble floors and beige coloured soft furnishings a large central chandelier, a focal point, hangs from the mezzanine level. The reception desks are to the right hand side together with the comfortable lobby lounge area. Citrus international restaurant is located to your left, to the rear of the lobby is the business centre and lifts to the upper floors and basement car park.

Guest wishing to hire a car will find the Al Ghazal Transport companies desk to the left of the lobby as you enter the hotel. The Millennium Hotel has one outlet within the hotel, the small 5 Star Gallery is situated to the right of the lobby close to the reception desk and sells tobacco, newspapers chocolate and a small amount of personal items. The hotel is located in the city centre so there are numerous shops within walking distance and the Abu Dhabi Mall and traditional Souks are a short taxi ride away.

There are two Club Rooms, one on the 15th floor which is non-smoking and one on the 14th floor both have comfortable seating arrangements, plasma screens and newspapers and magazines. The Millennium has a range of accommodation spread over the top 16 floors of the hotel. Guest rooms with odd numbers face the Ocean; they include Deluxe, Superior, and Club Rooms, several suite types and one Royal Suite. All rooms are decorated and furnished to a high standard and have views of either the Corniche and Ocean or the City and Capital Garden. There are 216 interconnecting rooms in total. Superior Rooms are located on floors 9 to 12 with the Club Rooms being on floors 13 to 16 and offering the best views. Ice machines are situated on all even floors. There are 65 king sized bed rooms and 50 Queen sized twins they have a writing desk with internet connection, a large sofa and an additional armchair and coffee table. All rooms have views of either the Corniche and Ocean or the City and Capital Garden although they are located on the lower floors and as a result some have more restricted views. The Club Rooms are located on floors 13 to 16 and offer the best views of the Corniche and Ocean or the City and Capital Garden. There are 26 kings and 26 twins. The Royal Suite is a luxurious apartment with a spacious floor area and has lavish and comfortable furnishings. This suite has a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a Jacuzzi bath with separate shower and luxury White Company toiletries. The second bedroom has two Queen sized beds, separate bathroom and toilet. There is also an expansive lounge area with two sofas and four armchairs and a work space with large writing desk and chair. The suite also has a separate dining room with large dining table and seating for twelve persons. Citrus international restaurant is located on the ground floor to the left of the lobby area. With a casual and relaxed atmosphere there is a substantial buffet at breakfast time, and a large buffet selection for lunch and dinner. A basic a la carte menu is also available. Sevilo's is an Italian restaurant located on the level 2. A spacious area with marbled and tiled floors creating a pleasant ambience with a buffet station and traditional pizza oven. The cuisine is predominantly traditional Italian and an a la carte menu is also available. Tables are available both inside and on an outdoor terrace with spectacular views of the Capital Garden and city. Special promotions are offered with a Pasta and Pizza buffet on Monday nights, a Seafood night every Wednesday and Saturday and a Friday brunch.

The Marakesh restaurant is located on the mezzanine level and is Abu Dhabi's only 5 star Moroccan Restaurant. It provides an extensive a la carte menu specialising in Moroccan cuisine with special theme nights during the week. These include a seafood buffet on Mondays and an Arabian night on Tuesdays. The Marakesh also provides entertainment with a Moroccan band, belly dancer and singer performing every evening except Fridays.

Located on the mezzanine level Cristal bar has the ambience of an exclusive refined club with subdued lighting and elegant dark wood furnishings. There is a long bar with stools and comfortable seating arrangements. Whilst there are no specific games rooms or children’s club facilities at the Millennium Hotel families are very welcome and staff are very friendly towards children. The hotel has some video games, soft toys and crayons available if needed. There is a professional babysitting service which should be booked 24 hours in advance. The Capital Garden is close by and is an ideal place to let off steam.

Cristal – is an elegant Cigar and Champagne Bar located on the Mezzanine level of the hotel, a popular venue with a live jazz player playing in the evenings.

Marakesh Moroccan Restaurant

Marakesh Moroccan Restaurant located on the Mezzanine level has a vibrant atmosphere with a live band and belly dancer performing in the restaurant from 9:00 each evening except Fridays.

The discreet Cristal Cigar and Champagne Bar was the first of its kind in Abu Dhabi and is still as popular as ever with a live jazz band playing in the evenings. The bar has a fine selection of hand rolled cigars, cocktails and light bar snacks are also served. Marakesh, the Moroccan Restaurant, is also located on the Mezzanine level. Booking is recommended as it is full most evenings. Live music and belly dancers perform until the early hours.

The Corniche Beach is a public beach next to the Hilton Hotel. The beach is separated from the Corniche Road by a grass border with a number with trees for natural shading. The beach itself is relatively straight with a gentle incline into the sea which because of the islands offshore is calm. Entry is free.

The Golden Point Beach is located next to the Emirates Palace Hotel. It is set in a quiet corner of the island away from traffic. The beach itself is split into two sections by a break wall. Between the beach and the car parking are numerous trees providing natural shade. There are no facilities at the beach so visitors should bring their own refreshments. The beach also has a ladies only section.

The Millennium Pool is part of Le Club health centre and is located outside the gym and next to Sevilo's Restaurant on level 2. The pool has plenty of wrought iron sun beds and parasols for relaxation and a separate seating area on the terrace outside the Sevilo’s restaurant. There is some shade provided with a large canopy above the pool. The small swim up bar in the pool serves drinks and snacks and the terrace provides excellent views of the garden city.

Le Club Gym is located next to Sevilo's Restaurant on level 2 and over looks Le Club Pool. With views of the surrounding skyline it is a light, open room with modern equipment by Cybex and Technogym. The gym also has television screens mounted on the walls and overlooks the hotel pool. There are separate toilets, changing rooms and a sauna and steam rooms for men and ladies.

Description

The Course at the Abu Dhabi Golf and Equestrian Club is set in the middle of the racing circuit. It is an open course with most of the features being provided by water and the backdrop is impacted by the floodlights for the race course. Potential players should note the course is closed early when there is a race meeting and should therefore check the opening hours before turning up to play.

Al Ghazal Golf Club

Description

Al Ghazal Golf course opened in 1997 and presents an exciting challenge to the novice and the experienced golfer. Instead of greens there are browns. These are created by compacting rolled and treated sand and, as the players quickly discover, they give an extremely true putting surface. The front nine holes (par 35) are based around an archaeological site which was once an old coast line. The back nine (par 36), which have recently been developed, present a great challenge. Be careful of the water on the 11th! Located next to Abu Dhabi International Airport Al Ghazal Golf Club is regarded as the leading desert golf course in the world. The course is also home to The Abu Dhabi World Sand Golf Championship.

Communal Areas

The entrance to the lobby area at the Millennium Hotel has good access for wheelchair users with a short ramp to either side of the four steps. Citrus Café, the restaurant to the left of the lobby reception area, is on two levels and the Lobby Lounge to the right is up three steps. The Business Centre is off the lobby area and has 6 steps leading to it. Sevilos Restaurant on level 2 has two levels and Marakesh on the mezzanine has 3 steps into the restaurant. The hotel has its own wheelchair for use if necessary. Assistance dogs are welcome at the hotel.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi has four specially adapted DDA Deluxe Rooms. Each room is located close to the lift. The bathrooms have 5 grab rails, a low level long bath with full length rail, a separate disabled shower seat and hand held shower. The basin is suitable for wheelchairs and there is a telephone within the bathroom. All the guest rooms are interconnecting. No other special provisions are in place.

Restaurants & Catering

Citrus Café, the restaurant to the left of the lobby and reception area is on two levels. The Lobby Lounge to the right of the hotel entrance is up two steps. Sevilos Restaurant on level 2 is split level and Marakesh on the mezzanine has 3 steps leading into the restaurant. There are ladies and gents toilet facilities on all the public levels but there are no disabled facilities.

Recreation Facilities

The Health Club and Pool area located on level 2 are accessible to wheelchair users. There are changing facilities here but there are no disabled facilities.

Visual & Hearing Aids

Assistance dogs are welcome at the Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi. Guest room door numbers are very slightly indented which may be of assistance to the partially sighted.

The Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi benefits from having four DDA specially adapted Deluxe rooms that are close to the lifts and is generally suited for guests with special needs. With the exception of the upper levels in the restaurants and the Business Centre, which has 6 steps leading to it, all other public areas of the hotel are accessible. The Millennium Hotel is known as an environment friendly hotel having a number of measures in place for environmental protection. Initiatives already in use include conservation of energy both in front and behind the scenes. All guest rooms have energy saving lights and guests are encouraged to reduce water consumption by changing towels every other day. Bottles and paper are recycled wherever possible. The hotel also has an on-going project to use eco-friendly materials.
