The Hilton is one of the original hotels to be built in Abu Dhabi. It is located on the Corniche near the city centre with it’s own private beach. The Hiltonia Health Club and Spa is located across the road from the main hotel and is accessed via an underpass. It includes a purpose built gym and spa, three swimming pools, a private beach and water sports centre as well as a number of restaurants, a pool bar and beach bar. Within the hotel there are several award winning restaurants ranging in cuisine from Lebanese to South American, Italian and International, as well as a lively Jazz Bar. There are a selection of rooms and suites at Hilton Abu Dhabi with the basic rooms starting at a compact 26²m and increasing in size, the largest suite being 115²m. Situated at the city’s edge the hotel has a comprehensive range of conference, function and meeting rooms available that are suitable for most types of events.

Hilton Abu Dhabi is located towards the end of the Corniche near the Emirates Palace on the city side of the Corniche road, with an underpass in front of the hotel that connects with the Hiltonia Beach Club. Its location gives it the benefit of being just about one kilometer from the city centre, placing it near the business district and shopping areas, whilst also benefiting from a beach front location. Abu Dhabi Golf Club is a short distance away and the horse racing track is 25 kilometers away, providing additional leisure options for guests.

Layout Description

The hotel is split in two parts: the main hotel complex is on the city side of the Corniche Road with the Hiltonia Beach Club and Spa on the other side of the road. The two sites are connected by an underpass under the Corniche. Within the hotel the majority of the restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops and banqueting rooms are located on the ground and first floors, with the boutiques located on the ground floor. The Jazz bar and Hemingway’s have a separate entrance outside, at the rear of the hotel, to ensure guests are not disturbed. The two private tennis courts are located behind the main hotel. The Hiltonia Beach Club is home to three swimming pools, Vascos and Coconut Bay restaurants, and the purpose built Health Club and Spa complex.

The entrance lobby to the Hilton Abu Dhabi has high ceilings and is square in shape with chandeliers, light brown marble flooring and dark wood panelling. In the centre there is a lobby lounge where hot and cold soft drinks are served. To the left there is an upmarket jewellers ‘Kahraman’ and the Lebanese restaurant and ladies and gent’s toilet facilities. A long passage leads out to the tennis courts and Hemingways restaurant and Jazz bar. To the right is the business centre and three of the five hotel lifts and a sweeping staircase that leads to the first floor restaurants and conference centre. The Concierge desk, Reception desk, Avis car hire, and a selection of boutiques shops are located down a wide hall leading off the lobby to the left. The Vienna Plaza Austrian Café is situated at the end of this hall, and there are two additional panoramic guest lifts leading to the BiCE restaurant and guest rooms.

The hotel has a selection of boutiques within the lobby area for essential items, reading materials and gifts. The opening times of the boutiques vary, The Book Shop is generally open from 08:00 in the morning to 22:00 at night with most of the others closing during the afternoon. In addition to the hotel boutiques, there is an array of shopping outlets just a short taxi ride away at many of Abu Dhabi's large Malls and authentic Arabic shops.

The Hilton Abu Dhabi has a number of different room types with either ocean or garden views but they do not have balconies. The basic room type is the King Hilton which is 26²m in size. The King Hilton Plus has ocean views and the Executive Rooms benefit from the additional facilities and services of the Executive Lounge. There are 36 interconnecting rooms in total. The Executive Lounge was refurbished four years ago and is located on the 10th floor. All the other room types and suites are larger, some with equipped kitchens for longer staying guests.

The King Hilton Executive Rooms are the same size as the King Hilton and King Hilton Plus Standard Rooms with Garden and/ or Ocean views. They benefit from access to the Executive Lounge on the 10th floor. Many of the King Hilton Executive Rooms have floor to ceiling window across a third of the wall with the remaining two thirds being a floor to ceiling mirror giving the room a sense of more space. The rooms themselves are decorated in a contemporary style with light wood furniture and gold edged mirrors, lamps and framed pictures. The King Executive Suite is a two room suite with a marble lobby area and guest lavatory. Leading from the lobby area there is a separate lounge/dining room and study area. The suite is airy and spacious and is decorated in a modern style with light coloured wood furniture, glass dining table with chairs for 6 and light brown carpet. The living area and study area form the end parts of ‘L’ shape that the room is configured in. The bedroom is found through double sliding doors (with an additional separate entrance) and has a small dressing area and an en-suite bathroom with corner bath, separate shower, bidet and a marble surround basin and large mirror, bathrobes, slippers, and luxury Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. The Emirates Suite is the premium accommodation at the Hilton and is decorated in rich dark colours, adding to a feel of luxury. The suite consists of a lounge/dining room complete with a bar and dining table to seat six. The bedroom is decorated in a similar theme with gold decoration behind the bed and benefits from ample wardrobes and a large marble en-suite bathroom which has a bath and separate shower.

Hilton Abu Dhabi has a range of dining options both within the hotel building itself and at the Hiltonia Beach Club. La Terrazza is extremely popular with locals and guests particularly on the Wednesday and Thursday themed evenings. Hemingways offers a casual Mexican bistro environment, while the recently refurbished Jazz Bar and Dining has modern upmarket International cuisine. Additionally, there is an authentic Vienna Plaza café, a Thai/Chinese, Italian, Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurant. The Restaurants vary from smart to smart/casual and a number of the restaurants provide some live musical entertainment. Several of the restaurants have recently won What’s On and/or Time Out awards in various categories.

La Terrazza is an international Mediterranean styled restaurant located on the first floor with full length windows overlooking the Corniche and the sea. The restaurant is the main breakfast venue for hotel guests and serves a buffet at all meal times with a small A La Cart option. In addition to the normal international lunch time and evening buffets there are reasonably priced theme evenings that include drinks, Wednesdays is a Bacchanalia Roman Feast and on Thursday there is a Four Corners Feast, encompassing dishes from Asia to Europe and the Middle East to the Americas both with live cooking stations. The restaurant itself is decorated in a Mediterranean design with tiled floors and dark wood tables and chairs. The oval hot and cold buffet display is set in the middle of the restaurant with easy access from the tables which are on two levels.

Hemingway’s is located at the back of the hotel through a separate entrance which is shared with the Jazz Bar & Dining and the nightclub. It is a bistro style restaurant and bar with the restaurant serving typical Tex Mex food. In keeping with the Mexican style, the interior has white walls and heavy dark beams, a central bar area and seating tables at the back. There are several large television screens on the walls on which the latest sports events are televised, giving the bar area a real sports bar feel during these occasions. For entertainment there is a live band from 20:45 until closing. Guests may use the bar without eating. Additionally, there is a separate private dining room for small functions of approximately 25 people.

Jazz Bar & Dining was refurbished in a contemporary style in late 2007. It is decorated with black and white Jazz Club memorabilia with a central raised stage and an illuminated low cocktail bar directly in front of it. The slightly raised restaurant areas to the left and the right have additional bars and seating allowing all guests to sit at the bars and tables with uninterrupted views of the stage. In the centre or the room there are more tables, and also standing tables at the back. Guests can choose to dine from a range of modern International fish or meat options or enjoy drinks and listen to the band play. The hotel generally contracts lively Jazz bands that start to perform at 21:00.

Vienna Plaza is a modern styled Austrian coffee house serving a large range of coffees, teas a range of light snacks including salads and sandwiches and some alcoholic beverages. Specialties include a range of homemade cakes and pastries. It is located at the end of the reception lobby on the ground floor and consists of a bar styled counter with bar stools and cakes and pastries on display. There is further seating on wood tables and chairs behind the bar in a double height light bright environment with additional seating outside. The Vienna Plaza also serves a light breakfast.

Vasco’s located at the Hiltonia Beach Club is named after the famous Portuguese explorer. The restaurant describes itself as 'East meets West' due its variety of dishes ranging from freshly made pasta, pizzas cooked in wood burning ovens, tandooris cooked in clay ovens and fresh steaks and seafood – something for everyone. The restaurant offers a casual dining experience with an open kitchen and seafood is on display. It overlooks the beach, pools and tropical gardens at the Beach Club and has a wood decked terrace with umbrellas for an al fresco experience or alternatively, there is inside dining with the benefit of air-conditioned nautical themed décor. Signature dishes include the Vasco's seafood salad lobster medallion, poached shrimps, smoked salmon and steamed mussels with crispy leafed salad with lemon infused olive oil as appetizers. For main course the Portuguese spiced Hammour with mashed almond potatoes and cilantro cream or the Vasco’s mixed Tandoori special and for desert chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream.

Mawal is an award winning Lebanese restaurant, between 2000 - 2006 it consecutively won the What’s On award for the best Lebanese restaurant in Abu Dhabi. The restaurant is located over a small feature bridge off to the right of the reception lobby area. It has a small Bedouin styled tent reception area and leading off from this a large Arabian styled restaurant with dance floor and a separate small function room for private parties. The traditional menu is extensive and features a wide range of Middle Eastern dishes with favourites being the mixed grill and some raw meats. There is entertainment six nights a week with a live 2- piece band and belly dancing commencing at 22:00. The restaurant has no non-smoking areas and serves Shisha.

BiCE is part of the global network of restaurants founded 80 years ago by Beatrice Ruggeri (Bice to her family) in Milan and is the second one in the Middle East. The restaurant is located on the first floor overlooking the front of the hotel and is of a modern contemporary design. The restaurant recently won the ‘What’s On’ General Managers recommendation for Italian restaurants, which is voted for by General Managers of Abu Dhabi hotels. The signature dishes of the restaurant are the Costolette di Agnello ‘Scottadito’ which is the breaded and pounded veal chop and the Ravioli ripieni di vitello con funghi di bosco which is the Veal stuffed ravioli ‘Massaia’ style.

Royal Orchid is a Thai/ Chinese restaurant located on the first floor of the hotel. It is decorated in an authentic Thai theme with the use of bamboo and other Thai decorations. The restaurant has its own bar area for pre dinner drinks and two private dining rooms which can seat 8 and 10 guests respectively. Children are welcome in the restaurant and receive discounts based on age. The signature dishes are the Singapore chilli prawns, Scihuan kung pao (which is Chinese chicken dices cooked in a medium spiced sauce), Thai red and green curry and Penang curry.

Coconut Bay, located at the Hiltonia Beach Club and close to the children's water slides, is a casual dining, all day pool and beach restaurant. Seating is outside in a patio environment with shade and wrought iron tables and chairs from where guests have views of the pool and ocean beyond. The restaurant serves a typical range light snacks, lunch and early dinner of salads, sandwiches, hamburgers, grills, fresh fruit salads and ice cream. The restaurant has a happy hour from 18:00 to 20:00.

Hemingway’s is located at the back of the hotel through a separate entrance which is shared with the Jazz Bar & Dining and the Discothèque/nightclub. The lively bar area is within the Mexican bistro style restaurant. In keeping, the Mexican styled interior has white walls and heavy dark beams, there is a central bar area with poseur tables and seating tables at the back. There are several large television screens on the walls on which the latest sports events are televised, giving the bar area a real sports bar feel during these occasions. For entertainment there is a live band from 20:45 until closing.

Jazz Bar & Dining was completely refurbished in a contemporary style in late 2007. It is decorated with black and white Jazz Club memorabilia with a central raised stage and a illuminated low cocktail bar directly in front of it. The slightly raised restaurant areas to the left and the right have additional bars and seating allowing all guests to sit at the bars or tables with uninterrupted views of the stage. In the centre or the room there are more tables, and also standing tables at the back. Guests can enjoy a large selection of drinks and cocktails without opting to dine from the modern International menu while listening to the live band play. The hotel generally contracts lively Jazz bands that start to perform at 21:00 with most tables being taken before then.

The Hiltonia Café Pool Bar is located on the waters edge at the Hiltonia Beach Club between the Upper (family) Pool and the beach. The restaurants at the Abu Dhabi Hilton hotel allow children although some are age or time restricted in the evenings. High chairs are available and there are either children’s menus or smaller portions on request. Cots and roll out beds are available through housekeeping. The hotel has a range of activities for children including a dedicated children’s pool, family pool, water slides, grass football pitch and children’s club. Hemingway's is located in the same building as the Jazz Bar and the Discotheque/Nightclub and is as much a bar as it is a restaurant with a live band playing six nights a week. It also has several television screens for watching sports events from around the world.

BiCE

BiCE Piano bar is located on the first floor of the Hilton Abu Dhabi adjacent to its restaurant overlooking the Vienna Plaza below. A relaxing venue for pre-dinner drinks or champagne on ice.

The hotel has a number of bars including the Jazz Bar which is one of the highlights of the Abu Dhabi entertainment scene. Hemingways is popular with hotel guests and local expatriates and regularly has televised live sporting events and/or a band or DJ. BiCE piano bar on the first floor of the hotel is a relaxing cocktail bar, while the Lebanese restaurant Mawai has belly dancing most evenings. The new bar/lounge, Cinnabar should open in March 2008. The Hiltonia Beach is a private beach available to hotel guests and leisure club members. The Hiltonia Beach and Beach Club is on other side of the Corniche and is reached from the hotel by an underpass, it has an island feel to it and as well as the beach access, it is also home to the hotel pools and the Health Club and Spa. Directly behind the beach area to the right is a lawned area with mature shrubs and a lake and pleasant views over the ocean. The beach is separated into two areas and is shielded from the pools by palm trees and evergreen shrubs. The beach overlooks an island with housing and retail developments and is next to the causeway that leads to the island. The beach bar in the centre of the beach sells a selection of soft drinks and cocktails.

Hilton Abu Dhabi has two main swimming pools, a separate children's pool and two water slides that finish in an additional separate pool for the slides. These pools are located at the Hiltonia Beach Club which is across the road from the hotel and accessed by an underpass. The Upper (family) pool is located at the Hiltonia Beach Club and features an irregular shaped infinity pool set slightly elevated from the beach, giving guests pleasant views over the sea. The Lower pool at the Hiltonia Beach Club is an adult orientated pool and is located between the gym and the Spa, next to the Lake Gardens and overlooking the beach. The pool has an irregular rectangular shape with an elevated Jacuzzi at one end and is surrounded by ample plastic sun beds with mattresses set on the paved pool surrounds. The Gym at the Beach Club is a modern purpose built gym with the latest life fitness equipment and plasma TV screens. The gym is light and airy and on one side of the rectangular room there are floor to ceiling windows which overlook the Hiltonia Lower swimming pool. Al Ghazal Golf Club

Description

Al Ghazal Golf course opened in 1997 and presents an exciting challenge to the novice and the experienced golfer. Instead of greens there are browns. These are created by compacting rolled and treated sand and, as the players quickly discover, they give an extremely true putting surface. The front nine holes (par 35) are based around an archaeological site which was once an old coast line. The back nine (par 36), which have recently been developed, present a great challenge. Be careful of the water on the 11th! Located next to Abu Dhabi International Airport Al Ghazal Golf Club is regarded as the leading desert golf course in the world. The course is also home to The Abu Dhabi World Sand Golf Championship.

Hiltonia Health Club and Spa is located next to the beach and is accessed via an underpass from the main hotel. The Spa is at one end of a purpose built building that also houses the gym, dance studio, mens and ladies salons and the children's club. The spa has a full range of treatments from advanced technology facials, slimming treatments and relaxation massages to healing hydro bath programmes, utilising Paul Niehans and Ingrid Millet products. The Spa has five good sized single treatment rooms with full facilities. There is also a relaxation room next to the treatment rooms and an additional room next to the Jacuzzi which overlooks the adult pool. In addition to single treatments listed above, the spa also offers a number of package treatment options.

Within the main hotel building there is an additional small salon 'Forever Young' on the first floor offering Guinot facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing and several intensive body treatments.

Communal Areas

The Lobby and Reception, where three lifts to hotel guest rooms are found, are accessible to wheelchair users. To access the two panoramic lifts and the Vienna Plazza coffee shop at the far western end of the reception area there are 2 shallow steps with a ramp adjacent to them. The hairdressers and treatment rooms located on the first floor of the hotel are up some steps. There are no disabled toilets available within the hotel. The hotel has its own wheelchair which can be used if needed.

Rooms & Bathrooms

There are two King Hilton Deluxe specially adapted rooms for guests with special needs. These rooms are situated on the corner of the building and are slightly larger and have king sized beds. The rooms have wheelchair accessibility, walk in showers with support rails. Guest room numbers are very slightly raised which may assist the visually impaired.

Restaurants & Catering

Restaurants and conference facilities within the main hotel are either on the ground floor or first floor level and all are accessible by lift. However, La Terrazza, Hemmingways, Jazz Bar and Dinning and Vienna Plaza are all on two levels with varying stair heights. There are no disabled toilet facilities within the main hotel. The Hiltonia Beach Club has two restaurants which are accessible, but the only disabled toilets are within the Spa Health Club and Gym building.

Recreation Facilities

To access the Hiltonia Beach Cub and the restaurant outlets there, there is an underground passage with both steps and a circular slope at either end. Generally most areas of the Beach Club are accessible to wheelchairs however one of the three changing rooms is down steep steps.

The only disabled toilets within the hotel complex are available within the changing rooms at the Hiltonia Health Club Spa and Gym which is located at the Beach Club.

Visual & Hearing Aids

Guest room numbers are very slightly raised which may assist the visually impaired. No other facilities are in place for hard of hearing or the visually impaired. Assistance dogs are not allowed.

The Abu Dhabi Hilton has a basic programme in place and recycles bottles, plastics and paper. Some care is taken when using cleaning products and a water saving policy is in place. The beach is cleaned and maintained to a good standard. The Abu Dhabi Hiltons preferred charity is Future Centre For Special Needs.
