  Al Ghazal Golf Club
Description
Al Ghazal Golf course opened in 1997 and presents an exciting challenge to the novice and the experienced golfer. Instead of greens there are browns. These are created by compacting rolled and treated sand and, as the players quickly discover, they give an extremely true putting surface. The front nine holes (par 35) are based around an archaeological site which was once an old coast line. The back nine (par 36), which have recently been developed, present a great challenge. Be careful of the water on the 11th! Located next to Abu Dhabi International Airport Al Ghazal Golf Club is regarded as the leading desert golf course in the world. The course is also home to The Abu Dhabi World Sand Golf Championship.

The Anantara Spa is situated at the end of the West Wing close to the Cascades Pool area in a separate building. The spa is approximately 1000sqm in size and covers two floors. The Moroccan theme is carried throughout the spa with the exception of one Thai massage room. There are relaxation rooms and changing rooms, five treatment rooms with two treatment beds, and shower/steam rooms. The luxury treatment rooms benefit from additional plunge pool baths. The large domed shaped Hamman has a large heat marble, Jacuzzi and steam rooms. Some treatments are also available in guest rooms or by the pool.

S T Beauty is a separate Hairdressing, waxing and pedicure facility at the far end of the East Wing.
Special Needs
Communal Areas
Generally there is good access for the physically challenged around the hotel. There are no steps at the entrance of the hotel and there are lifts accessing all areas within the hotel with one small ramp at the central area of the Palace at the back of the hotel leading out to the beach. On the 1st, 3rd and 4th floor public areas of the hotel there are a number of gentlemen’s and ladies' handicapped toilet facilities with 2 grab rails. The pool locker rooms have disabled toilet and shower facilities with additional grab rails and shower seats.
Rooms & Bathrooms
All the guest rooms and suites within the hotel have wide entrances. There are two modified disabled rooms at the Emirates Palace hotel, each are Coral Grand guest rooms, one is in the East Wing and one is in the West Wing. Although they are one of the first rooms along each wing because of the distances in this hotel they are some way from the Reception, lobby and the pools, however, there is a lift close by. The guest rooms are spacious but no special adaptations have been made other than to remove one closet so as to allow more space in the hallway and the bathroom. The bathroom has a roll in shower with 3 grab rails, shower curtain and seat. There are 2 grab rails around the toilet area and the bidet has been removed. The vanity unit and basin have been lowered and there is some free space below. To enter the bath there is a wide lip and a moveable grab rail and bath seat.
Restaurants & Catering
All the restaurants within the Emirates Palace are accessible for wheelchairs although many are on two levels. There are no special menus for the people with sight disabilities. Guests with special dietary requirements should notify staff beforehand and will be advised on suitable options.
Recreation Facilities
Wheelchair access is available around the hotel. Guests should be aware that the distances are great and may induce some involuntary exercise for the companion. Golf buggies are available for external use for guests to get around the grounds. The pool locker rooms have a disabled toilet and shower facilities with additional grab rails and shower seats. The Anantara Spa located at the western end of the building has a ramp and lift.
Visual & Hearing Aids
Except for in the conference areas there are no special hearing induction loop systems or visual assistance equipment at the hotel. Guest room numbers are slightly raised. Assistance dogs are not welcome.
Staff Assistance
Staff assistance are available to assist if required. The hotel has it’s own wheelchair which can be used by guests if necessary.
Cranley Comment
Distances at the Emirates Palace between the public areas and the guest rooms are vast and guests with limited mobility should be aware of this although all areas of the hotel are accessible. There are only two specially adapted Coral Grand guest rooms at the hotel which although close to lifts are not close to the main reception area or pool and beach. There are handicapped toilet facilities within the main building and better equipped shower and toilet facilities in the locker rooms close to the pools. Other than the conference areas, no special hearing or visual aids are in place. Assistance dogs are not welcome.
