The Danat Resort is located in Jebel Dhanna which is on the Gulf coast about 250km from Abu Dhabi City. The hotel is an oasis in the desert being located on an undeveloped area of the coast line with some, but minimal buildings near by; in fact the nearest town is 10 km away. The hotel is an intimate full resort hotel with 109 roomswith several room types including private villas next to the beach, three restaurants as well as casual dinning in the bars. There is a full range of leisure activities with a comprehensive gym, squash, tennis and a range of water sports. The hotel also provides entertainment with a live band in the L’attitude bar and a guitarist in the C-View Café. The hotel is reputed to be a good location for fishing with the hotel taking benefit of this by employing two fishermen who supply the hotel’s restaurants with fresh fish each day. The hotel also owns three speed boats which are used for fishing trips and other sea excursions. There is also a range of activities geared for children including paint a pot for younger age groups.

Location Description

Danat Resort in Jebel Dhanna is located in the far west of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, 250km from the city centre and 100km from the Saudi Arabian border. The hotel is located next to the sea and has its own private beach and benefits from its peaceful location away from the hustle of the city centre hotels. The hotel is easily reached from Abu Dhabi with a dual lane highway with relatively little traffic to cause delay. There is very little around the hotel other than desert, so guests will enjoy the isolation and tranquillity of the location. Guests staying more than five days benefit from complimentary transfers from Abu Dhabi airport and guests staying more than seven nights also receive complimentary transfers from Dubai Airport.

Layout Description

Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna is a typical resort style hotel set in its own grounds with all the room types having sea views. The hotel is set back from the beach with the pools and lawns occupying the space between the hotel and the beach. The restaurants are at the back, and to the side of, the hotel giving them panoramic views of the hotel gardens and the Gulf. The health club and L’attitude bar are on the left of the hotel, with the meeting rooms on the right. The tennis courts are by the side of the hotel ensuring any noise does not reach guests relaxing by the pool.

The lobby is designed in a circular shape and is decorated in a contemporary modern style. The centre is taken up by the lobby lounge, where there are circular style sofas and casual chairs. Drinks are served from the C-View Café which is located at the back of the lobby lounge with a bar and bar stool seating and more casual style arm chairs overlooking the hotel pool and the beach. The main reception and concierge desk are on the left of the lobby with Tides, an all day restaurant, at the back right of the lobby. Opposite the reception desks is the Essentials shop.

The hotel has a small boutique selling the basic necessities and there is salon for men and ladies. Guests should note that the hotel is a significant distance from the nearest major shopping centre although basic amenities such as banks and pharmacies are available in a small town of Ruwais which is about 10km away.

Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna offers a number of room options for a hotel of its size with all rooms facing the sea. Room choices include rooms with and without balconies and room options that come with the added amenities of the executive floors, with slightly larger bathrooms and separate showers. For those wanting more space there is the Seashore or the Grand Lagoon Suite. The Waterfront Villas provide added privacy, located away from the main hotel with uninterrupted views of the Gulf. All rooms have a complimentary fruit basket on arrival which is replenished every three days.

Island Cove rooms are located at the ends of each floor and consist of a small entrance hallway which lead into the bedroom, off which is the en-suite bathroom. The room is decorated in a modern contemporary style with beige walls and dark wood furniture. The bathrooms come with a shower only. The Seashore room is very similar to the Seaside room. It comes without a balcony but because of its position in the hotel, it has a larger bedroom which adds about 8 sqm to the overall room size. Lagoon Suites are two bedroom suites that come with a separate en-suite bedroom and lounge with kitchenette. It also comes with the added benefit of a separate WC. The room itself is decorated throughout in the same style as the other room types. The principle benefit of this room is the lounge with a kitchenette that has all the basic cooking utensils for guests who wish to cook for themselves. The two rooms are separated by a doorway, with a door to ensure privacy if required between the two rooms. The Lagoon suite does not have a balcony but both rooms have floor to ceiling windows that overlook the Gulf.

The Presidential Suite, as its name implies, is the premier accommodation at this hotel. It comes with a large master bedroom and large en-suite bathroom with luxuries including a rain shower and Jacuzzi bath. The lounge/dining room is a dual purpose room where the lounge and dining room are separated by an Arabic screen. Off the lounge is an office area that is separated from the lounge by ornate ironwork that make an interesting feature of the office area. The office itself has a desk and phone. The lounge has ample sofas, large screen televisions and sound system. The Suite also benefits from having a balcony.

Waterfront Villas are located about 30 meters from the beach and have their own shaded parking next to them. The one bedroom villas come in separate houses with two villas to a house. The entrance is to the side of the house and on entering the villa, the en-suite bedroom is to the inland side whilst the lounge with kitchenette is to the ocean side, with large windows/patio doors overlooking the grass lawn and the beach. The Villa has a small kitchenette with a bar type counter and two bar stools and there are table and chairs outside as well as a sun lounger and parasol.

The 2 Bedroom Waterside Villa is contained in its own house. One enters the house into a combined lounge/dining room with its kitchenette. The 2 rooms are separated by the large screen television. In the middle of the room are a couple of steps that take you to the main bedroom, family bedroom and family bathroom. The overall suite is decorated in the same style as the rest of the rooms but the lounge has a tiled floor. The suite opens out onto the grass lawn and is about 30 meters from the beach. Guests can also take advantage of the chef on demand service where one of the hotel chefs will come and prepare your dinner or provide the ingredients for you to cook yourself; the most popular option being the BBQ service.
