The CHEDI Muscat is a full resort hotel and was constructed in December 2002. It has its own private beach and occupies a quiet position 20 kilometres north of Muscat city centre. The Chedi offers four types of accommodation comprising of Standard Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, Deluxe Club Rooms and Chedi Club Suites. For dining there is one main international restaurant with four open show kitchens and guests can also dine in the lobby lounge either indoors or out and at two poolside cabana’s. For leisure there are two swimming pools, one being a family pool and the other being for adults only and there is a secluded private beach 150 metres from the rear of the hotel. Guests have the use of two flood-lit tennis courts and there is also a separate Spa and health centre. The hotel also offers guests the option of the Chedi Club which has additional facilities including a private lounge/library, complimentary breakfast, evening cocktails, free internet access and airport transfers. The Chedi is primarily a leisure hotel and has limited business facilities however there is a function room which can be used for conferences and meetings with free audio visual equipment available on request.

Location Description
The CHEDI Muscat is located on the beach twenty kilometres north of Muscat city centre. Its position gives it easy access to the city and also the airport which is ten minutes away by taxi. As well as the facilities in the hotel, Muscat City has a large number of traditional shops and a Souk in Muttrah as well as several modern shopping malls. There are many interesting locations near to the hotel including the old port, historic forts and the Natural History Museum. For sport there is also the Bandar Al Rowdha Marina nearby which offers a range of water sports together with activities such as dolphin watching.

Layout Description
The CHEDI Muscat is a resort hotel set in formal gardens with its own private beach. The hotel is arranged over three floors with accommodation on all floors. There are also 36 Chedi Club Suites which are separate from the main building and located in the gardens. The open plan lobby extends from the main entrance and includes a large canopied area in the style of a Bedouin tent. To the right of the lobby is the main international restaurant and on the left is the boutique. At the rear of the hotel is the lobby lounge which has views over the gardens to the ocean and the private beach is 150 metres from the rear exit. In the gardens on the right is the family swimming pool and poolside cabana and to the left approx 100 metres away is the adult swimming pool and poolside cabana together with the fitness centre. The Spa is located to the left of the lobby beyond the boutique and the tennis courts are at the front of the hotel.

On entering the hotel there is a small entrance lobby with the reception desk to the left and the concierge desk on the right. Guests then enter the main lobby which is a large open area furnished with several sofas, whicker chairs and coffee tables. To the right of this area is the entrance to the restaurant, on the left is the boutique and to the rear is the lounge which overlooks the gardens. A feature of the lobby is the large canopy in the centre of the room which creates the appearance of a Bedouin tent.

The Chedi has a boutique which sells a large range of items. These include men’s and ladies casual clothes and swimwear, jewellery, ornaments, souvenirs, books, magazines and confectionery. The boutique is open daily from 09.00 to 22.00.
Cranley Comment
The hotel has one shop located to the left of the main lobby. Outside the hotel there is a hypermarket approximately two kilometres away which although it is within walking distance it is advisable to go by taxi to avoid having to cross a busy main road. Muscat city is 20 kilometres away by taxi and has a large Souk, traditional shops and modern shopping malls.

The CHEDI Muscat offers four types of accommodation consisting of Standard Rooms (known as Serai Room), Deluxe Rooms, Deluxe Club Rooms and Chedi Club Suites. All rooms are doubles with the Serai having queen size beds and the rest having king size beds. Rooms at the rear of the hotel have ocean views and the remainder have views of the gardens and surrounding mountains. All the rooms have the same modern decor and styling with quality furnishings.

The Serai Rooms all come with a queen size bed. Additional furniture consists of a built in sofa, an occasional chair and coffee table. The rooms are very modern in appearance with white walls and polished dark wood floors and have stylish hanging lanterns to either side of the beds headboard. The bathroom has a shower with a rainforest shower head, separate toilet, hand washbasin and open wardrobe.

The Deluxe Club Rooms are identical to the Deluxe Rooms and are located near the lounge/library. The Chedi Club suites are arranged around the hotel gardens in either single or two storey blocks. They benefit from increased privacy being separate from the main hotel and have considerably more space. This increased size allows for a separate lounge area with a flat screen TV and extra sofas and chairs. A unique feature is the provision of 2 ipod minis with 1500 songs loaded which connects to the Bose wave audio system. The bathroom also benefits from having a large Terrazo sunken bath, separate shower, a bidet and additional closets

The CHEDI Muscat's main dining area for breakfast, lunch and dinner is known simply as The Restaurant. Located to the right of the hotel lobby it has seating inside and also outside on a large courtyard. Within the restaurant there are also three semi-private dining rooms which can accommodate between 12 to 20 persons. Guests can also choose to have lunch and dinner at two outside Cabana's located at the Chedi Pool and the Serai Pool. Chedi Club members can also have a continental breakfast served in the lounge/library. The Restaurant won "Best Restaurant" in the oman2day's 2006 awards

The Restaurant occupies a large elegant room to the right of the lobby area with additional seating in an outside courtyard and 3 semi-private dining rooms. The main room has its tables arranged around four open show kitchens which feature tandoori ovens and a wood fired pizza oven. Another unique feature is the impressive floor to ceiling wine library with over 250 different wines and champagne on offer. The extensive a la carte menu features Asian, Arabic, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine with specialities such as the Moroccan Lamb Tagine, the entrecote of Wagyu Beef and the Wok Fried Roasted Duck. The Restaurant has also been recognised as one of the best 66 new restaurants by Conde Naste Traveller. The restaurant has two seating's at 19.30 and 21.30 and guests or visitors are recommended to make reservations.

Bar Comments There is no specialist bar at the hotel however drinks are available in the main restaurant, the lobby lounge and at both the poolside cabanas. In addition, Chedi Club members can enjoy cocktails in the lounge/library each evening.
