Special Needs
Rooms & Bathrooms The hotel has three adapted standard guestrooms that offer more space than other standard rooms and also have a separate lounge area. The rooms have good manoeuvrability for wheelchair users and all have a double bed. The entrance door has a door bell which sets off a flashing light in both the bedroom and sitting room areas of the guest room. The wardrobes have lowered rails and there is an emergency button located by the bed. The bedroom leads through to a sitting room area which is furnished with two easy chairs, a table, desk and chair and a TV. There is space in this area for an extra bed for a carer if required. Leading off this area is the bathroom. The bathroom has a wider door, lowered sink, lowered toilet and open shower which has a pull down seat, a main shower head and a further hand held shower. Located next to the toilet is an emergency pull cord. Grip rails are located on the door, next to the toilet, next to the sink and in the shower.
Restaurants & Catering The hotel's restaurants and bars are located on the lobby and mezzanine levels. There is however one further restaurant, Bacaro Caffe which has a street entrance on St. Katharine's Way with wheelchair access into the cafe via a ramp. The Brasserie restaurant has two entrances, one directly from the lobby and a further outside entrance on St Katharine's Way both of which are wheelchair accessible. There are two split levels in the Brasserie restaurant and both can be accessed by wheelchair via ramps. The Lobby Lounge is located opposite the Concierge desk and is accessible by wheelchair. Both the Carvery and Gallery restaurants and Xi Bar are located on mezzanine level. All three venues can be reached by lift and are all fully accessible for mobility impaired guests in a wheelchair.
Visual & Hearing Aids The hotel has an induction loop system and braille in some of the lifts.
Communal Areas Mobility impaired guests have access into the lobby area via a ramp located just along from the first entrance into the hotel on St. Katherine's Way. Immediately next to the ramp is a disabled car parking space. The hotel has two entrances into the lobby both of which have steps leading up to the entrance doors. Access by wheelchair into the lobby is not possible at the second entrance as there is no ramp. Large circular automatic doors lead into the lobby at both entrances. All facilities on the ground floor lobby area are on one level. Mobility impaired guests in a wheelchair have good access to the front desk, guest relations and concierge desks, lifts to all floors, Brasserie restaurant, Lobby Lounge and the two internet computer stations located in the corner of the lobby. Lifts lead to the mezzanine floor with access to the Carvery restaurant, the Gallery restaurant, Xi Bar and the Tower Suite one of the hotel's meeting and conference venues. There is a mobility impaired toilet located on the mezzanine level of the hotel.
Recreation Facilities The hotel has a gym located on the 11th floor. This area would be extremely difficult for a mobility impaired guest to use as the gym is small and has very little manoeuvrability space.
Staff Assistance The hotel is able to provide wheelchairs and assistance when necessary to help mobility impaired guests. Guests staying at the hotel with physical difficulties should advise reception on check-in so that special attention can be given in the event of fire or emergencies.
Cranley Comment
