Refurbishment The K West hotel was opened in 2001 following a £7million refurbishment. The building pre-dates its use as a hotel. There are plans to refurbish the front and entrance to the hotel during the summer of 2007. The spa will undergo a complete refurbishment in 2008.

Opened in 2001, K West is located on a quiet residential street in the Shepherd’s Bush district of London. The hotel is housed in a glass-fronted 1960s building, but the interior is decidedly 21st century, winning it the 2002 Best London Hotel at the Theme Awards. Light streams into the lobby and the open-plan K Lounge which features a long, open fireplace. Tiny televisions dot the walls of the lobby and hallways. The hotel’s designer decor and luxurious spa attract people in the entertainment industry, as well as vacationers seeking something a little out of the ordinary. K West has two hundred and twenty air-conditioned guestrooms including two types of Standard Rooms (Junior Double and Superior), Deluxe, Executive (with its high tech features including DVD, CD, Sony Playstation and iPod connections) and the luxurious Embassy and K Suites. Kanteen, a stylish contemporary restaurant with luxurious leather seating in rich blues and reds, oak wood flooring and finished in stainless steel and glass, offers a menu of international cuisine. K Lounge has a wide choice of hot and cold food and refreshments, from continental breakfast each morning and a wide range of hot meals throughout the day. Guests can indulge at the hotel’s holistic K Spa which has a jacuzzi, sauna, steam rooms, treatment rooms and a relaxation area. For the more active, K Fit, the hotel's gym, has two large exercise rooms packed with state of the art equipment. Business travellers can catch up with work in the Quiet Zone with workstations and chargeable wireless Internet access or make use of the two garden level meeting rooms and two syndicate rooms.

K West Hotel is located in west London in Shepherds Bush, five minutes drive from the A40M and three minutes walk from the nearest Underground station of Shepherds Bush. Guests are just a twenty minute taxi journey from the West End of London and other major commercial districts which are easily accessible by taxi or the Underground. Just a few minutes walk from the hotel is the buzz of Shepherds Bush and Portobello Road markets and the stylish shopping of Notting Hill and Kensington High Street. Hyde Park, one of London's prettiest parks, is just fifteen minutes by taxi from the hotel. The city's theatres, galleries, museums and night life and are all easily accessible from K West. Shepherds Bush Underground station is a short walk away and provides access into all areas of the city.

Layout Description
K West has a narrow frontage overlooking Richmond Way which disguises the true size of the building which has bedrooms either side of a corridor approximately one hundred and fifty metres long. The hotel is built on a slope and guests enter the building at level three which is where the lobby and public rooms are situated. The reception desk is to the left and immediately to the right of the entrance is the open plan K Lounge and staircase leading to the Kanteen Restaurant. Behind the K Lounge is the Quiet Zone. There are two elevators and stairways at the end of Lobby area serving guestroom floors (two of which are below and three are above), meeting rooms, the spa (on level one) and gym (level two).

The contemporary design of the lobby features marble flooring, high ceilings, columns and dark woods and natural light streams into the lobby and the K Lounge. The reception desk is to the left and immediately to the right of the entrance is the open plan K Lounge and staircase leading to the Kanteen Restaurant. Behind the K Lounge is the Quiet Zone with PC workstations and chargeable wireless Internet access. There are two elevators and stairways at the end of the lobby area serving guestroom floors, meeting rooms and the spa and gym. A two minute walk from the hotel is Shepherds Bush Market with its myriad of goods ranging from the exotic to the everyday as well as cafes, convenience stores and many local shops. K West is fifteen minutes walk to Portobello Road Market and the upmarket shopping areas of Notting Hill and Kensington High Street. A twenty minute Underground, bus or taxi journey takes guests to Oxford Street and Regent Street shops for all the major high street names, the specialised boutiques and jewellery shops of Bond Street, the upmarket shopping area of Knightsbridge or for gentlemen, Saville Row.

Corridors are lit with bright multi-coloured strip lights and feature small screens showing cartoons, news and television programmes throughout the day. Guests enter into a forty-two square metre lounge with wood flooring and a deep blue wool rug and containing two sofas, a large coffee table and desk with leather armchair. Guests also have the use of free broadband Internet access, an Illy espresso machine and a Bose lifestyle cinema system offering full surround sound with a 42" plasma television. The bedroom and bathroom are reached via dividing walls of either glass, wood or half wood half glass. The bedroom has a two metre square bed with a sheepskin bedspread, LCD television, an adjacent walk-through cupboard containing a safe with in-built laptop charger, a pharmacy drawer with essential products and a Paradise drawer with adult toys for broadminded guests! The bathroom contains a double-ended Philippe Starck tub with a huge window providing plenty of natural light, an oversized shower with high pressure body jets and pulse/massage heads and a separate toilet.

Kanteen is a stylish restaurant with a contemporary design and flooded with natural light. It is situated on level four and can be reached from the lobby on level three, via a wide staircase. The restaurant features funky lighting, luxurious leather seating in rich blues and reds, oak wood flooring and is finished in stainless steel and glass. Head Chef Sylvan Chevereau has created an innovative menu of fresh international cuisine. There are weekly menu changes and low carb and vegetarian options are a special feature. Kanteen serves a full English breakfast, along with lunch and dinner.

The K Lounge has a dramatic contemporary atmosphere, with a low-ceiling in the seating area which features brown-leather sofas and a modern, open fireplace which runs the length of one wall. It has a large glass fronted bar and has lots of natural light as the bar is below a high window at the hotel's front. DJs play K Lounge Sounds on Thursdays from 22:00 to 01:00 and on Friday and Saturday nights from 22:00 to 02:00.
