Cranley Summary
Conveniently situated next to Liverpool Street Railway Station in the City of London the Andaz Liverpool Street occupies a Grade II listed Victorian building dating back to 1884. The architect, Charles Barry, also designed the Houses of Parliament. Many of its original features are highlighted within the hotel by a modern mix of lighting effects and contemporary designer furniture. More of a “hometel” than a hotel, Andaz takes its name from a Hindi word which means "personal style". Without a formal reception or concierge guests' receive personal attention from ‘Hosts’ who are greeted in the stylish ‘Living Room’ at the entrance to the hotel. Check-in and out procedures are carried out in an informal style over a cup of tea or coffee. The personal ‘Hosts’ who carry hand held 'Tablet' computers, are on hand 24 hours a day and seamlessly address all matters relating to a guests stay. The combination of grand Victorian design, natural wood and modern quirky artistic features which are evident throughout the hotel, create a visually engaging and extraordinary environment. The 267 designer guest rooms have large dedicated desks, internet and telephone calls to 020 numbers are complimentary, and in contrast the modern bathrooms reflect the Victorian era. There are four distinctly different restaurants and four bars which cater for most tastes from gastronomic to simple British side orders including mushy pees! Personal Trainers at the Andaz Health Club are complimentary and spa treatments are also available at extra cost. To add to this unusual setting The Andaz Liverpool Street hotel also has a range of event spaces including blank canvasses, and a Masonic Temple.

  Wentworth
Description
Wentworth has three courses. The West is world famous and is home each year to the HSBC World Matchplay and the BMW PGA Championship. The other "original" course is the East and finally the most recent addition is the Edinburgh which opened in the 1990’s. Many golfers visit Wentworth for the West course and very few courses can boast a tournament history on a par with the West course. It hosted the 1953 Ryder Cup and then in 1956 the Canada Cup, the forerunner to today’s World Cup of Golf. It has the distinction of hosting two of golf’s most prestigious championships; the World Matchplay and the PGA Championship. In addition the East course is in most golfers' lists of the top fifty courses in the British Isles. It was the setting for the inaugural Curtis Cup in 1932 and hosted a friendly match in 1926 between two teams from the US and Great Britain and Ireland which was the inspiration for the contest we now know as the Ryder Cup. Lastly the Edinburgh course was opened in more recent times and was designed by coach and former Ryder Cup player and captain John Jacobs in consultation with nine-time major champion Gary Player and the Club’s then professional Bernard Gallacher.

During the Andaz Liverpool Street refurbishment in 2007 many environmentally friendly systems were installed including Evac water saving systems in all bathrooms which use 80% less water and a computer controlled boiler which reduces fuel by 25%. Intelligent room card operated energy saving light switches were also installed and the public toilets have infra red detection systems. The hotel holds regular Green Meetings and is keen to improve its environmental practises in all areas. In the guest bedrooms the stationery is minimal, all of which is printed on recycled paper including the laundry bags which have the laundry menu printed on the outside creating less waste. The pencils are made from recycled CD cases. All printers within the hotel are environmentally conscious and staff follow a shut down procedure after each shift. Air miles are a major consideration when sourcing food and beverages and a Fair Trade purchasing policy is also implemented. The hotels preferred private car hire company is Green Tomato Cars who use environmentally friendly Toyota Prius cars. Make A Wish is one of the charities which the hotel supports.
